I used my bike for commuting today. I took it on the train this morning, but rode home tonight.

I had been leery about riding in the morning because I didn’t want to arrive at work all sweaty and gross with a ridge around my head from my helmet. But this afternoon it was 80 (dry) degrees. A nice breeze kept me totally comfortable.

I think the mornings, where it’s barely 60 degrees, will be fine. I’ll throw some deodorant and hair spray in my bag and just spruce up at work.

I just need one of the bigwigs to start biking to work. They’d have showers installed within the week.

Ever feel like you’re the only one who didn’t get the memo?

People on the train are especially eccentric today.

I like sitting on the train with no expression, just looking straight ahead. No one knows that my earphones are currently blasting Lady Gaga and that I am having a Friday afternoon dance party in my head,

There are two boys on the train, maybe sophomores or juniors in high school, who are having a very intense debate. They are arguing who would win a battle - Daleks or Orcs. They are leaning toward Orcs as they would basically beat the shit out of the Daleks, but there are good arguments on both sides.

Old fashioned text on the bench at my train stop this morning.

The strap around his neck says ‘I Hate Jail’.

I hear that.

San Jose State is back in session, so the trains are a lot more crowded when I ride home from work these days. College kids also tend to have food with them more than your average commuter.

The dude sitting next to me now has french fries and they smell so freaking good I am tempted to reach over and grab one. If I could only eat one junk food for the rest of my life it would be french fries.

I really might grab one…

I like your outfit! How much did you pay for that, like $143?

Umm… No. Not $143.

People are chatty on the train today. I even have headphones, but she tapped me on the shoulder to ask.

Maybe I’ll just try this next time someone bothers me on the train.

When I started my job in June, the sun was already up on my way to work. Now it’s just rising as I head for the train. I’ll be doing this walk in the dark pretty soon!
